To prevent cruelty to, and suffering of, animals.
Welcome to the web site for Animal Control of Camden County, GA. This web site is provided to educate the public about the services we offer. We provide aid to lost, abused, and abandoned animals.
Animal Control is a government function provided by Camden County and each of the three incorporated cities here. It has three main functions:
Public Service - Animal Control Officers impound stray animals to prevent them from doing damage, or harming themselves or others.
Education - Animal Control Officers work with the Humane Society and other agencies to establish standards for responsible pet ownership. They also educate the public through direct
visits to schools, clubs, and civic organizations.
Enforcement - Animal Control protects animal owners, non owners, and animals in our community through state laws and local ordinances.
All these elements work together. Education changes attitudes, and is a preventive measure. Enforcement also changes attitudes, but is a corrective measure.
The Animal Control departments of Kingsland City and Camden County have contracts with the Humane Society to take in animals that have been impounded as described above. This makes Animal Control the first place you
should call to report a stray or dangerous animal in your area. Contact information for the local Animal Control departments is located on our Contact Us page.
