ALEXANDER ANDREW JOHNSON

Johnny J. Johnson, Jr. and Emily Tomlinson's son Alexander Andrew, born on February 15, 1885, never married. For many years he farmed in the Hilliard area. In his later years he went to live with his brother, Duff, in Fort Pierce, Florida. When his brother died in 1943, he returned to the Hilliard area where he died on October 21, 1946. He is buried in the Mill Creek Cemetery with his mother and father. The following is a copy of Alexander's obituary that appeared in the Wednesday, October 23, 1946, edition of TheFloridaTimesUnion.

    JOHNSON— Funeral services for Alex Andrew Johnson, 61, who died Tuesday morning at his home in Hilliard will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday in the Hilliard Methodist Church. The body will rest in the church from 1 P.M. Thursday until the funeral hour. Burial will be in Mill Creek Cemetery under the direction of Key-McCabe Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson is survived by his sisters Mrs. Arrie Rowe, Hilliard, Mrs. Amanda Johnson, St. George, Georgia, Mrs. Gertrude Peacock, Mrs. Sandol Dahlman, Mrs. Virue Horton, Miss Allie Johnson, and Miss Lelia Johnson all of Jacksonville, a brother, Jack J. Johnson of Hilliard, 11 nieces and five nephews. Pallbearers who will be active include Jim Guynn, Bunny Guynn, G. H. Davis, Jr., Herbert Stokes, Earnest Stokes and David Henderson. Honorary pallbearers include Harley, William and Raphord Rowe; John and A. J. Higginbotham, Lewis and Morris Haddock; Henry, Harris, Port, Tracy, and Mann Geiger; Colson and Roy Sikes.
