JOHN  JOHNSON

John Johnson was born on May 23, 1732. On May 23, 1752, he married Jean Bell. Jean was born in 1734, the daughter of John Bell. John and Jean became parents to Robert, born on November 25, 1755; Mary, born on May 15, 1756; William "Hugh", born on December 8, 1758; Catherine, born on October 3, 1760; John, born on November 16, 1762; James, born on August 1, 1764; Jean, born on September 18, 1765; Margaret, born on December 20, 1769: Elizabeth, born on January 19, 1772; Alexander, born on September 30, 1774; and Joseph, born on August 12, 1776. In 1764, John acquired several acres of land in Little Britain Township in Lancaster County. In time John acquired a plantation of approximately 365 acres in Little Britain Township. Later he expanded his landholdings in Little Britain Township and acquired additional land in the neighboring township of Colerain.
