ALEXANDER JOHNSON

John Johnson and Jean Bell's son, Alexander, born on September 30, 1774, married in the late 1790s. Jane Glenn. who was born about 1777. Together they developed a very productive farm adjacent to the Johnson family plantation where they reared their family. The children of Alexander and Jane were Nancy, born in 1804; Jane, born in 1799; John, born in 1801; and James McCullough, born in 1805.

Alexander Johnson and Jane Glenn's sons, John and James, purchased on April 5, 1823, a farm located in Colerain Township, a short distance from the Johnson plantation. They were very successful as farmers and developed a highly productive farm. In 1827 John Johnson and Nancy Andrews were married and made their home on John and James' Colerain farm.

On April 29, 1829, the Reverend Barr, minister of the Middle Octorara Church in Bart Township, married James McCullough Johnson and Ann Caughey, born on June 12, 1804. Ann was the daughter of John Caughey and Elizabeth Kerr.
