| SAMUEL FLOYD born ca. 1718 in Northampton County, VA, was the last child of Charles Floyd of Northampton County and Elizabeth. He was very young when his father died (in the Northampton Co., VA Will of the above Charles
Floyd: "... my youngest son, whose name I intend to be Samuel") & only about three or four when his mother died. As stipulated by his father's will, he inherited a share of the land on Hogg/Hog Island. Married SUSAN DIXON prior to 1745 in VA. Susan / Susannah / Susanna Dixon was born ca. 1720/1725 in Northampton Co., VA, the daughter of MICHAEL DIXON, JR. (son of Michael Dixon & Susannah Tilney) of Northampton Co., VA, &
ELIZABETH (maiden name unknown - some sources say Fox, although this has not been proven to nor by me). Samuel Floyd & Susan Dixon had only three children (Samuel,Charles, Elizabeth "Eliza"): 1. SAMUEL FLOYD(some sources list this child as JOHN) born ca. 1745 Hogg Island, Northampton Co., VA. He d. bef. 1752 at Hogg Island (Files of Raymond L. Bothoms, Floyd research, Kent, WA). 2. CHARLES FLOYD
born 04 March 1747 in Northampton County, Virginia; married MARYFENDIN 1768 in Charleston, SC. She was the dau. of John Fendin Jr. & Elizabeth Thomas. Charles & Mary Floyd had only one son (John). (SEE details on this line below!). 3. ELIZABETH FLOYD "Eliza"

Obligatory tithes were collected (money and or produce) in accordance with Christ Church at Eastville, for parochial care of the indigent, aged, infirm, widows, orphans. In addition for "keeping Eliza. Floyd" Grace Jones received extra monetary compensation for: "Her trouble in Dressing Elizabeth Floyd legg" & "for cureing Eliza. Floyds sore legg" (Vestry Book of Hungar's Parish Northampton County, Virginia 1757-1875,
ed. & transcribed by Dr. Howard Mackey & Candy McMahan Perry). Married JOSHUA FITCHETT/ FITCHETTE of Northampton Co., VA, son of Thomas Fitchett & Cleare (maiden name unknown). At least five children (Charles, Elizabeth "Betsy", Sarah "Sally", Nancy, Joshua T.) - all born in VA (Sources: A Little Family History, by Mary Hazzard Floyd Hamilton; & Virginia's Eastern Shore, by Ralph T. Whitelaw).
Elizabeth Floyd Fitchett & Joshua Fitchett were both alive when their daughter, Nancy, resided in Camden County, GA, with Charles Floyd and his family. This extended visit must have taken place while Charles Floyd was still alive, sometime between 1800 & 1820, for according to A Little Family History, "[Nancy] returned home again, as her parents were both living." -----1. CHARLES FITCHETT
born (calculated 1770-1772) in VA; was named after his mother's "long lost brother" (A Little Family History, by Mary Hazzard Floyd Hamilton). While on a business trip to check out shipping at the Savannah wharves, Charles Floyd of Camden County, GA, became interested in a schooner anchored at the docks. His inquiry about the boat revealed that the owner, John Kendall Floyd of Norfolk, was a cousin. John K. Floyd informed him that this nephew,
Charles, was his namesake. This information prompted Charles Floyd to make a trip up to Virginia to see his sister and other relatives whom he had not seen for so many years. Charles Fitchett moved down to Camden Co., GA, to stay with his uncle, Charles Floyd. After residing several years at the Floyd plantation in Camden County, he returned to VA. -----2. ELIZABETH FITCHETT "Betsy" born (calculated 1772-1774) in VA; married Mr. COSTAIN/
COSTAN/ COSTIN (A Little Family History). Several sources (The Marriage License Bonds of Northampton County, Virginia From 1706-1854, comp. by Stratton Nottingham; Marriages of some Virginia Residents 1607-1800, by Dorothy Ford Wulfeck; Marriages Northampton County, Virginia 1660-1854, comp. by Jean M. Mihalyka) list a marriage for: JOHN COSTIN to ELIZABETH FITCHETT dau. of JOSHUA FITCHETT
on 06 August 1793 in Northampton Co., VA - which may or may not pertain to this particular Elizabeth, but seems probable that it does. Betsy Fitchett Costin visited her uncle Charles Floyd in Camden County, GA. -----3. SARAH FITCHETT "Sally" born (calculated 1774-1776) in VA; married Mr. NOTTINGHAM. Sally Fitchett Nottingham visited her uncle Charles Floyd in Camden County, GA. -----4. NANCY FITCHETT
